Langton Communications Inc. is a Toronto-based consulting firm that specializes in media relations and event planning services for the beauty and lifestyle industries.
Established in 1996 by Donna-Lee Langton, Langton Communications Inc. has represented some of the most prestigious brands in the beauty, health and lifestyle businesses.
Today, Langton Communications represents various clients in the fields of cookware, houseware, hair care, skincare, nail lacquers, salons, spas and some of the biggest shows and events in the professional beauty industry such as the Allied Beauty Association Shows and the Contessa Awards. We’ve been fortunate to be named in Cosmetics Magazine within the top 6 in Canada for Beauty PR Reps for three consecutive years.
Our staff is comprised of five creative and enthusiastic individuals who bring more than 30 years of combined experience in the areas of media relations, event planning, journalism and advertising.
Donna-Lee Langton, President +
Donna-Lee Langton has worked in the advertising and public relations fields for twenty- five years, nineteen of which have been spent specializing in media relations for the beauty industry. From 1991 to 1996, she handled all advertising and public relations activities for Joico Canada. During this time she planned and executed local and national advertising campaigns and product launches, coordinated special events and oversaw all charitable donations.
Since the inception of Langton Communications in 1996 she has coordinated media relations for the Allied Beauty Association Shows – Canada’s largest beauty industry trade shows – in eight of the major Canadian cities annually; executed media launches for the fragrances of A-list celebrities such as Mariah Carey and Hillary Duff, arranged interviews for Chef Jamie Oliver and coordinated all the personal appearances and media interviews for Anna Sui’s first press tour in Canada.
Donna-Lee’s accomplishments include being rated in the top six public relations professionals by Canada’s beauty media in surveys conducted by Cosmetics Magazine for their May/June 2008, 2009 and 2010 issues. The magazine polled 57 beauty editors who named the top 30 professionals who excelled in beauty industry public relations.
After living in Toronto for sixteen years, Donna-Lee moved to Vancouver in 2006. She divides her time between the two cities and maintains homes and offices in both, visiting Toronto on an average of every two weeks.
Ivana Mariani, Senior Account Manager +
Ivana Mariani earned her Bachelor of Journalism with Honours at Ryerson University in Toronto. She was the recipient of several journalism awards and has 10 years of experience in the field, including writing for local newspapers and a columnist for www.canoe.ca, a national online media. In the last 8 years she has focused her attention to Media Relations.
As Senior Account Manager at Langton Communications, Ivana Mariani utilizes her journalism skills in various press releases and communication materials to editors. Her years of experience in Media Relations enables her to strategize effective releases and promotions and then to execute them in a timely and organized fashion.
Her Public Relations work experiences include various product launches, sponsorships with the Toronto International Film Festival parties, MMVA after parties, Toronto Fashion Week after parties, and professional athletes including Olympic Bronze Medalist Joannie Rochette.
She enjoys working closely with clients and media to meet their individual needs and goals.
Maxine Jesuthasan, Senior Account Manager +
Maxine Jesuthasan began her academic journey studying politics, but she found her niche in Public Relations. After earning a degree in International Studies from York University and a post-graduate certificate from Centennial College in Public Relations.
At Langton Communications Inc., Maxine has worked on a number of successful PR campaigns for clients such as Elizabeth Arden, Moroccanoil, T-fal and the Allied Beauty Association. Maxine has coordinated client sponsorship activities at the Toronto International Film Festival, the MuchMusic Video Awards, and Toronto and Montreal Fashion Weeks. In 2009, she worked with Elizabeth Arden and Alfred Sung on the launch event for Alfred’s newest fragrance, Always. More recently, she worked with Brian Orser and Elizabeth Manley for separate Toronto media appearances.
As an account manager she works to consistently improve communication between clients, media and consumers. Each day she draws on her passion for beauty and lifestyle brands, entertainment, and events to assist in the creation of fruitful campaigns.
Vanessa Ferrone, Account Manager +
Having a keen interest in the communications field, Vanessa completed a four year program at the University of Guelph-Humber, earning a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Studies and a Diploma in Public Relations. Here, she sharpened her skills in writing, media relations and event planning, while also studying communication theories, business ethics and image arts.
At Langton Communications Inc, Vanessa exercises her love of the beauty and lifestyle industries. She researches and pitches media on story and segment ideas, assists media with their specific product or information requests, writes press releases for various client products, and researches media outlets to keep updated on the latest beauty and lifestyle features.
Vanessa has a major role in the coordination of the Allied Beauty Association's annual "CityLine Ordinary to Extraordinary" Competition. This action packed competition occurs in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, and challenges hairstylists to perform a makeover for the chance to appear on Canada's largest daytime program, CityTV's CityLine.
Vanessa looks forward to each day as a valuable opportunity to interact closely with the media and clients, assessing their individual needs and responding accordingly.
Stephanie Beaudoin, Production Manager +
Stephanie Beaudoin revels in creativity. A graduate of the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, School of Animation, Art & Design, with a major in Photography, Stephanie enjoys working in a variety of artistic projects.
At Langton Communications, Stephanie determines the selection and design of press kits, invitations as well as media event décor and leads the Toronto team in executing these creative elements. Her artful attention to detail ensures that attention-grabbing press kits are sent in a professional and timely fashion. She places great emphasis on thoughtfully tailoring ideas to fit each client and product.
Stephanie loves to explore new places, food, art and culture. She has travelled to Japan, London, Poland, Paris, New York, Hawaii and various cities across Canada realizing endless possibilities and inspiration. Thinking of creative, interesting, and innovative ways to present even the simplest element is what Stephanie looks forward to each day.
